Reformulation of the Didactics of Confession in the Catholic Church
These notes are not intended, in the slightest, to create conflict or to contradict the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. Rather, they seek to offer a few brief psycho-pedagogical suggestions, so that they may be taken into account whenever it is considered prudent.
Without attempting abrupt changes, it would be desirable for the Examination of Conscience to evaluate not only sins and faults, but also the achievements and growth experienced by a parishioner.
It would also be convenient for this examination to eventually be complemented by the Test of the Soul, so that we do not speak only in terms of qualitative impressions, but also in terms of numbers, colors, and concrete measurements. In this way, Confession would not only fulfill the sacred role of asking forgiveness for sins and receiving absolution, but would also become a method for testing the sustained development of the soul.
